WAITING

——————————————

The wind had howled, stirring the darkening sky into a churning mass of clouds before the first drops began to fall.

Rain whispered against the windows, each drop a soft reminder of the storm gathering strength beyond the glass. The world outside blurred into shades of gray, as if the sky itself had swept away all color.

Lunch was served at the perfect time in the grand dining hall, where crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over the polished mahogany table set with fine china and gleaming silver.

Atmosphere was a serene contrast to the tempest, with a feast laid out: delicate poached salmon, garden-fresh vegetables, and golden-baked pastries.

The clock in the wall strikes at 2 o’clock but still no one joined the lunch table. Ms.Olive stood in front of her wing but was hesitating to knock on the door.

“The food is getting cold,” A maid said, sighing, standing at a distance from where Ms.Olive stood. Her lover wasn't in her room like he should be, then why is she still in her room? Maybe waiting for him?

Another maid came running from downstairs as both of them looked at her. “What, Jennet?” Ms.Olive whispered quietly.

“We have guests,” she was breathing heavily, as both of them looked at eachother. “Guest at this hour?” Jennet nodded her head up and down.

“Then Lady Evangeline was expecting someone?” Ms.Olive says as she headed to the living room along with both the maid to see who arrived at this hour.

The huge tv in her room was played in the lowest volume possible as she sat on her bed with her focus completely on the item being shown there.

She doesn't want anybody to know that she's been craving for the item shown brightly on the screen.

She looks at the wall clock to see it's 2:15 pm. But still nobody came to knock on her door to say they've arrived. The bed was messy, the room untidy.

The maids didn't barge in her room today for cleaning, because her lover himself hadn't been into her room. So they thought they shouldn't be interrupting her.

It's better to leave her alone rather than to mess with her already upsetted mood.

The jewel merchants left with her hope shattered.

She got off the bed, standing in front of the mirror as she rubbed her hand on her neck. “I wish I could wear a Yellow Diamond for my birthday.”

A sad smile on her face, firstly her husband destroyed her walk-in closet in which she has to renovate her whole wing because of the massive fire. It's been nine days since that he dropped the hellfire and left.

And secondly the yellow diamond which was only mined into their enemy territory and it's quite hard to have that precious gem in their Kingdom.

Sylveris is much more and in many ways ahead of Rhodes, in the modern generation Rhodes lacks industries in which Sylveris holds the market of seventy-percent of industries in the world.

Her mom used to rule the kingdom after her grandmother but later when she died the pressure of the kingdom again fell on her grandmother's shoulder and her father who was a soldier of the kingdom left the royal family and went onto live by himself.

The photo of her mother holding her baby self in her arms stood still on the dressing table. The more she looks into the picture of theirs, the more she delves into the past where she was forced into a loveless marriage just to save the kingdom from financial crises and got on its feet after three years she had been married.

“Lady Evangeline,” A slight knock on her door was heard, finally! She got up on her feet as she opened the door. “What?” Her voice low as she asked.

"You have guest waiting for you downstairs,"
